Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about our sessions...

How old does my child need to be to attend a session?

The sessions are deigned for mixed ages, for babies from approximately 6 months old, once they can confidently sit unaided, up to school age. Everything is on floor trays so that children of all ages can access the activities, even if they are not yet walking.

Primary school aged children are welcome to attend the half term holiday sessions.

Birthday parties are for 1st-5th birthdays.

Can I bring more than one child to a session?

Absolutely! One reason for having a mixed age class is so that you are able to bring children of different ages and they can all get involved. There are discounts available for bringing more than one child (for siblings or for extra children attending with a childminder) and non walking chidlren attending with a paid child can come for free!

What should we wear to a session?

Babies and children need clothes that you don’t mind get messy and painty. Although we try our best to use resources that don’t stain, we can’t promise that some staining won’t occur so please only wear things you don’t mind get messy. Lots of people keep the same outfit that they wear each week as their 'messy outfit'.
We suggest parents and carers also wear comfortable old clothes as the little ones do like to involve you in getting messy too!
Some parents bring aprons or put little ones in puddlesuits, this is entirely your choice.
Some people take shoes off, some wear old shoes/crocs/wellies. However you feel comfortable and whatever you don’t mind getting messy is perfect.

What do I need to bring to a session?

A handwashing bowl is provided for use in between activities, but you will need wipes and a small towel for cleaning up your child after the session. You will also need spare clothes for your child to change into after the session (and maybe for you too if you are planning on going out somewhere afterwards!).
A couple of carrier bags; one for taking home dirty clothes and one for taking home any creations that they may make during the class.
If your child is in nappies then please bring nappy sacks to take home and dispose of any dirty nappies.

Can I feed my baby during the session?

Absolutely! The sessions are designed as free play sessions and completely led by your little one. It is no problem at all if  you need to take a break to feed your baby.

Do I need to pre-book a session or can I just turn up?

Every session does need pre booking via our booking page on Book That In which can be found here. This ensures that we have the correct amount of resources and activities for everyone attending and that the maximum number of attendees is not exceeded for everyone's safety. Payment for sessions is made via card on the booking system. There are several different booking options. More  details of these can be found on our pricing page.

My child has an allergy, can they still take part?

Of course! Every session we run is dairy free. You can let us know of any allergies on the booking form and we will do our best to cater for these if we have at least 24 hours notice in order to prepare alternative resources. Every activity has a sign clearly stating what is used to make it so that you are informed of its ingredients.

What if my little one doesn't like it? Do you do trial sessions?

New customers can book a trial session with no further commitment to book any more. However, from experience we do find that sometimes some children need several sessions before starting to feel more confident. Booking a 3-Class Flexi Pass is the best way to trial a few sessions before deciding if you and your little one would like to come more regularly. Some children may find it overwhelming walking into a new environment with new people and they might just do a couple of activities that they prefer or they may spend time walking around and watching others. Other children may come in and get stuck in straight away! Every session is child led and free flow for you and child to explore what they want to at their own pace. You may find that they prefer some activities to others and spend more time at these, and that is fine! Each week has a variety of different textures and materials used to encourage children to explore their senses and the world around them. Every week has a mixture of 'dry' and 'wet' messy activities and we always have a painting activity, playdough and water play.
